Bilingual Preschool @ St. James Campus

Experiences That Enhance School Readiness

What is St. James?

Designed to provide high-quality educational experiences to enhance school readiness for eligible three and four-year-old children. Children are prepared to be successful academically in school and in all five of the developmental domains that are critical to children’s overall well-being and success in reading and math as they enter school.

What is Immersion, dual-language learning?

St. James campus is a five star full day bilingual preschool serving at-risk three and four year old and typically developing children and families. This program will provide a quality learning environment using a Developmentally Appropriate Bi-Lingual Division of Child Development Early Education DCDEE approved curriculum to prepare children for a successful entry into Kindergarten. Since few programs with bilingual children have alone successfully improved Kindergarten readiness and healthy family well-being, we offer a comprehensive full day bilingual preschool that addresses multiple components of any Social Exchange Model: The child, family engagement, and community outreach. The activity aligns with the organization mission statement “Families First in Cabarrus County provides programs for early childhood education, promotes communication through a bilingual early childhood experience and builds strong family-program partnerships to ensure child and family well-being.”

All our preschool programs are also required to meet the NC Child Care Rules.  North Carolina is one of four states with a Pre-K program that meets all 10 National Institute of Early Education Research Benchmarks (NIEER).  Benchmarks include comprehensive Early Learning Standards; staff meet education/licensure requirements, professional development; 1:9 staff/child ratio; developmental screens and referral; evidence-based curriculum and formative assessments; monitoring and nutritional requirements.
